Pulwama, Apr 27 (KNO): The residents of Darbagh Watchi area of Zainapora sub division of South Kashmir's Shopian district and Rakh area of Pulwama here have demanded the construction of a bridge over Ranbiara at Rakh Pulwama. The residents of the area told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that the bridge will bring relief to the farmers of both the areas. Sameer Ahmad, a local resident said that they are facing immense hardships in absence of the bridge, adding that every year locals come up with the makeshift arrangements, but it gets washed away frequently, leading to the sufferings of masses. Altaf Ahmad, another local resident, said that elderly people, women and children are facing a lot of problems in absence of the concrete bridge. He said that they are facing a lot of problems, especially in case of an emergency and there is a need to come up with a concrete bridge for one time solution. Locals said that students have been regularly crossing the river over a small unsafe bridge to reach their schools, which can lead to the unfortunate incident as well. For the last several years, they have been approaching the concerned authorities to look into the matter, but all in vain, they said. “Government has spent lakhs of rupees in different works everywhere but so far have failed to construct the concrete bridge here,” they said. “We have high hopes on Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha and Deputy Commissioners (DC) of Shopian and Pulwama that they will look into it and direct concerned authorities to look into it,” they said. The locals urged the authorities to look into the matter and construct the bridge at an earliest so that locals could heave a sigh of relief—(KNO)
